Company History

For more than 70 years, Georgeson has reached and elicited responses from shareholders around the world.

Initially, Georgeson began as two companies: Georgeson & Company Inc. founded in 1935 by Lloyd Georgeson, and Shareholder Communications Corporation founded in 1969 by Alexander Miller.

Both companies offered proxy solicitation services (Georgeson & Co. being the first in the world) and engaged in aggressive programmes of expansion and innovation. In 1999, Shareholder Communications Corporation acquired Georgeson & Co. to form Georgeson Shareholder Communications Inc (“Georgeson Shareholder”).

In 2001, Georgeson Shareholder opened its first Australian office in Sydney, servicing clients based in the Asia Pacific region.

In 2003, Computershare acquired Georgeson Shareholder and renamed the company Georgeson Inc, and now, we are simply known as Georgeson.

Georgeson pioneered proxy solicitation and the contemporary approach to shareholder communication and were the first to use the telephone as a strategic tool to reach large numbers of shareholders.
