Georgeson initially began as two companies: Georgeson & Company Inc. founded in 1935 by Lloyd Georgeson, and Shareholder Communications Corporation founded in 1969 by Alexander Miller.
Both companies offered proxy solicitation and asset reunification services (Georgeson & Co. being the first in the world) and engaged in aggressive programmes of expansion and innovation. In 1999, Shareholder Communications Corporation acquired Georgeson & Co., forming Georgeson Shareholder Communications Inc.
In 2000, Georgeson founded its first European office in London, bringing us closer to our European clients, and addressing the flow of international capital into the equities market. Georgeson now has a large, multi-location presence in Europe and a global offering for asset reunification.
In 2003 Georgeson was acquired by Computershare Limited
(ASX: CPU) an Australian listed company that employs over 14,000 people globally, providing services in over 20 countries to more than 16,000 clients.
